Our life occurs in the two dimensions - the inner and the outer world. The outer world is all what is happening around you, the inner world is all what is happening withing you. Both worlds are equal, but many people do not consider them as equal or they might not even know about the existence of the inner world. Those people do not know who they are.
Explore both worlds to learn about yourself, find out who you are. Do have your eyes open to what we usually do not pay attention, meditate to read in your mind, be consciouss... then you will see the world and your life from the whole prospective.

One needs to constantly remind oneself of the inner world. One forgets because of all the input that comes from the outer world.
ReplyDeleteIts like working on developing the physical strength and also the mind. Both need to be in balance. Outer world always provides us with more inputs and distractions. Reflection of our thoughts and actions provide us focus we need to improve ourselves.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that the inner world also provides us with many distractions - such as our emotions, desires... those also need to be controled.
ReplyDeleteI think emotions are mostly a reaction to what our inner and outer experience. It would be like controlling the symtoms and not getting to the root cause of the symptom ----> not issue, not problem, just symptom and root cause. As the symptom could also be happiness that we so seem to embrace, but when it turns around we are not able to accept the opposite. That brings us the other comment u put about attachment.
ReplyDeleteThe only way to stop this fluctuation is to not get attached to the happiness or other emotions and remain in a neutral state.
Hope this is not a recruitment drive for more people to become monks. hehehehe
ReplyDeleteHahahaha I hope not, we simply discuss philosophy of life.
