The society needs idols - famous people who somehow influence the society and its opinion.
I think we should focus on idols among ordinary people around us. Each person is great in a certain way. And each person should know he is able to have his own opinion.

Idols are inspiration to people. They give them hope for a better life and improving their own.
ReplyDeleteMany people are inspired to do good. Mother Theresa is a great example. Of course, Gandhi and Mendala have inspired people to strive for freedom and good moral living.
Dalai lama is one of the most inspiring people with is words of wisdom and spreading peace and happiness of mind.
Idol worship is sometimes taken to the extrem, not really a big supporter of blind dedication towards somone I hardly know. But will always support anything positively impacting. Maybe with their message or with their action when it inspires others to do good and be good. :)
cheers
Well certainly those people are very important for the world and bring a huge impact. But I don't think we may call them idol...
ReplyDeleteNowadays idols are basically people created by media, it is like a toy for playing a game of medias to get a lot of money with various strategies how to manipulate with people... don't you think?
yep, media sure plays a huge role in the spreading of info (good and bad) . I am not sure if we can do anything about it. These days everything seems to be so driven by profit margins and the smaller players cannot find enough capital to run their day to day business which is driven by Advertisements and the Advertisements are driven by View-ship.....
ReplyDeleteIts all connected. :(
Hopefully they don't get too much of Idol attention that the main important people who really make a huge change in a very positive way are ignored.
Hey we have the blog, Facebook and email to spread something good and spread awareness among our friends.
Maybe we can improve that more to spread social messages among our own group of friends first. That way some of them who are motivated will be about spread it to their group of friends and the chain continues ;)
You are a good writer, you can use that gift to put in some kind of social messages and life stories in your blog as part of daily indian experiences too :) cheers
I will try to do it on FB .
thought I will share this with you as you don't have access to my FB....
ReplyDelete“Do not expect to be acknowledged for everything you say and do...When you do good things for others, good things will happen for you, too...!!!!”
This is equal to do your duty with sincerity and the fruits will follow if you deserve them.
This is something we can link to Karma too. The older people seem to understand karma more as they are able to related it to their past actions and the results.
Younger people have a tough time understanding it as they did not experience it much and think no this is not possible.
But as time goes we soon realise and take refuge in the best theory that relates closest and seems to make the most sense. And the theory of KARMA seems to be that seems to become dearer to our hearts as we grow more from our experience. :)
Hope I am making sense.
Thanks for your posting. Yeah that's why I am keeping this blog with philosophical thoughts. The other blog is just for India everyday news. I don't want to mix it all together.
ReplyDeleteYou can post your thoughts here as well, it will be nice. However, I doubt anybody except you and me read this blog.....
Yes its nice to have philosophical discussion. That is one thing we both have a lot in common, not many girls are into that. :)
ReplyDeleteSo what about the thought for today?
I am now at work, 7:05 am on a conference call with India. Don't have access to email, but access to blogs and facebook. Funny fire wall we have here.
