Positive or Negative

It is not good to be too positive, it is even worse to be too negative. I guess we should consider the situation as it is and simply observe what is going on and how it is evolving without expectations and future positive or negative views. Anyways the things will move their own way.
Without giving situations positive or negative view, we simply experience them and have the opportunity to see things more objectively. That is favorable for our growth.

  1. That is true, unbiased approach. But we also need to have some objective and direction in life to give us the motivation and drive and desire and purpose to get up each day with enthusiasm. That is only achieved when you have some expectations. And we cannot do that with an unbiased approach to situations. That will kill the spirit of human beings and make them feel like vegetables.

  2. Well I guess when you leave the unbiased approach, than you can feel that different kind of happiness from the calmness. You wake up and feel the peace and that brings the joy for that moment. You don't need to feel wildly excited for the upcoming day...

  3. Yea thats true too, we don`t have to feel wildly excited. But to drive my point, you wake up with the drive and motivation to do tai-chi. Imagine you were just simply observing how it is evolving without expectations. You would probably not be much motivated to get out of bed.

Then when you finish doing tai-chi you feel more alive and fresher, that may be because you met some expectation. These little victories will give you more motivation to move on into the day and face bigger challenges. :)

I think its all part of the huge unknown game of living life and growing :) or growing and learning from the experience.

  4. I don't have these feelings... I try not to have any expectations.

  5. I practice taiji, because it is part of my daily living, not because I set a goal and I am happy to fulfill it...

  6. Interesting you say its part of your life. How did it become part of your life, you took to it because it fulfilled something in you. For sure it is not something you are doing to kill time or fill you life up with. It became a part of your life after started doing it every possible day. :)

  7. Another example of something that is part of daily living is eating, bathing, etc. This is something we do to meet the expectation of satisfaction our hunger, cleanliness.

It has become such a part of our life we don`t think about it. We just do it. But the fact remains it is done to meet certain expectations.

And also true we tend to be able to see things more clearly or from a different perspective and in an unbiased way if we can look at things around us like wise.

  8. I dont think that hunger is an expectation to be fulfilled. It is your basic need you need, if not eating you die. Breathing is not expectation, when not breathing you die.

  9. yes,, but you consciously make the effort to find food to satify, the unconsious expectation. That where the right brain function and left brain function kicks in. One is connected to the other.
