Opposition

The more opposition there is, the better. Does a river acquire velocity unless there is resistance? The newer and better a thing is, the more opposition it will meet with at the outset. It is opposition which forestalls success. Where there is no opposition, there is no success either.

Compassion

A compassionate attitude opens our inner door, and as a result it is much easier to communicate with others. If there is too much self-centered attitude, then fear, doubt and suspicion come and as a result our inner door closes. Then it is very difficult to communicate with others.

Travel

Once in a time, it is good to travel. It is healthy to move out from the stereotype of staying at one place, being at all those known sites and environment. Traveling is not comfortable feeling and so you can enjoy lots of adventurous situations, encounters and seeing new places and people. It brings new prospectives.

Past

As my friend says, the destiny can be understood only retrospectively.
I think it is important to try to understand our past because it gives us hints for the present and the future. Learn from the past, live in the present and plan the future.

Humans

With a basic understanding of all humans as brothers and sisters, we can appreciate the usefulness of different systems and ideologies that can accommodate different individuals and groups with different cultural heritages, having different dispositions and tastes. Each person has the right to choose whatever is most suitable, on the basis of a deep understanding of all others as brothers and sisters.

Beauty

People say that nothing is for free. I think everything is for free. Magical sunrise, picturesque sunset, splendid flowers in blossom, beautiful smile, neverending laugh, kind regard, compassion...
Natural and mental beauty is here for all of us at any time and any place and anybody can experience it.

Quest for Happiness

The great benefit of science is that it can contribute tremendously to the alleviation of suffering at the physical level, but it is only through the cultivation of the qualities of the human heart and the transformation of our attitudes that we can begin to address and overcome our mental suffering. In other words, the enhancement of fundamental values is indispensable to our basic quest for happiness.

Mind and Attachment

One who gives up living in houses, wearing fine clothes, and eating good food, and goes into the desert, may be a most attached person. This man's only possession, his own body, may become everything to him, and as he lives he will be simply struggling for the sake of his body. Non-attachment does not mean anything that we may do in relation to our external body. It is all in the mind.

Plans

Think about what you want out of your life. Don't be lazy, don't postpone your plans for later on. Set the plan and make it come true. Think about your daily, weekly, monthly, yearly plans and work on their realization. That way you will be living a satisfactory life.
There can come unexpected changes that will affect your plans, but unless you have your mission, you live your life of somebody else's mission.

God's Love

Never during his life did Ramakrishna refuse a single prayer of mine. Millions of offenses has he forgiven me. Such great love even my parents never had for me. There is no poetry, no exaggeration in all this. It is the bare truth and every disciple of his knows it.

Good

It is very important to generate a good attitude, a good heart, as much as possible. From this, happiness in both the short term and the long term for both yourself and others will come.

Change

Change is the basic condition of all existence. Without change there is no birth, no death, no good times, no bad times. Change is essential for the constant evolution of the world. Hence, why are we that much afraid of changes?

Fears

All the fears are creations of our mind. Train your mind in order to get rid of your fears. Do things you fear to get rid of anxiety and pressure. It will make you grow and you will begin to enjoy even activities you don’t like that much. Because there is not like or dislike. All we do has its purpose. All what happens has its purpose.

Achieve Peace

A person who is not disturbed by the incessant flow of desires - that enter like rivers to the ocean, which is ever being filled but is always still - can alone achieve peace, and not a man who strives to satisfy these desires.

Existence

God is the only real existence, there cannot be two.
There is but One Soul, and I am That.

Friendship

Friendship is a constant learning about people and mainly yourself. More different people are your friends, more aspects of yourself you explore.

Praise and Censure

Praise and censure have no value in this world of ours. They only rock a person as if in a swing. Praise I have had enough of; showers of censure I have also had to bear; but what avails thinking of them! Let everyone go on doing their own duty unconcerned. When the last moment arrives, praise and blame will be the same to you, to me, and to others. We are here to work, and will have to leave all when the call comes.

Soul

The individual soul is unbreakable and insoluble, and can be neither burned nor dried. It is everlasting, all-pervading, unchangeable, immovable and eternally the same.

Non-attachment

The lotus leaf is in the water. The water cannot touch and adhere to it. You should be in the world like that. This is called vairāgya, dispassion or non-attachment. Without non-attachment there cannot be any kind of yoga. Non-attachment is the basis of all the yogas.

Compassion

Cultivating a close, warm-hearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the ultimate source of success in life.

Various People

You meet various kinds of people and each of them has different role in your life. You meet your family members, friends, acquintances, enemies, people who help you to recover from hard times, people who poison your peace of mind.
All these people are equally important for your growth. They come without your invitation, however, you decide who will remain in your life and who will leave. Learn from the enemies and the poisonous people and let them go. Welcome friends and keep them in your life.

Bondage

Eternal progression is eternal bondage; annihilation of form is to be preferred. We must get free from any body, even a "god-body."

Life abroad brings many new aspects. You learn how to live in the new place, in the new conditions. It is like a new life, a person is like being born again.
What a beauty, but also what a difficulty. Nothing in life is easy and so the beauty of life is in its difficulty.
More dificulty, more beauty. More new things come to your life, more difficult they can be, more you learn, more you grow, more you spend out of your comfort zone, more strong and wise you become.

Life is like a cup of Coffee

A group of alumni highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor conversation soon turned to complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of COFFEE and an assortment of cups porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some loooking plain, some expensive, some exquisite.

He told his guests to help themselves to the coffee.

After everyone had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said :

" If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups have been taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.
While its normal for you to want on the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.
Be assured that the cup adds no quality to the coffee.
In most cases it is just more expensive, and in some cases even hides what we drink.
What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup.
But you consciously went for the best cups...
And then you began eyeing each other's cups to see who had the best one.

Now consider this, Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups.
They are just tools to hold and contain LIFE and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of life we live.
Sometimes by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee.
Savor the coffee, not the cup!
The happiest people don't have the best of everything.
They just make the best of everything.

Live simply.
Speak kindly.
Care deeply.
Love generously.

Forgiveness

At one level, forgiveness means you shouldn’t develop feelings of revenge. Revenge harms the other person, it is a form of violence and usually leads to counterviolence – so the problem never goes away.
At another level, forgiveness means you should try not to develop feelings of anger toward your enemy. Anger doesn’t solve the problem, it brings uncomfortable feelings to yourself and destroys your own peace of mind.

Better World

Having vision of change for the better world, begin with the change for the better yourself.

Selfishness

Karma Yoga says: first destroy the tendency to project the tentacle of selfishness, and when you have the power of checking it, hold it in and do not allow the mind to get into the ways of selfishness. Then you may go out into the world and work as much as you can. Mix everywhere, go where you please, you will never be contaminated with evil.

Care for Others

If we develop concern for other people's welfare, share other people's suffering, and help them, ultimately we will benefit. If we think only of ourselves and forget about others, ultimately we will lose. The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater our own sense of well-being becomes.

Love

Pure love doesn't depend on place or time. It simply is everywhere around us, within us, at all times. Just live it at every moment. Feel it, give love and you get love back. We are all one. By giving love to others you give love yourself as well. No need to forgive, no expectations.

Compassion

True compassion is not just an emotional response but a firm commitment founded on reason. Therefore, a truly compassionate attitude towards others does not change even if they behave negatively. Through universal altruism, you develop a feeling of responsibility for others: the wish to help them actively overcome their problems.

Free from Bondage

When we free ourselves from name and form, especially from a body - when we need no body, good or bad - then only do we escape from bondage.

Tolerance and Patience

As the destructive effects of anger and hateful thoughts are concerned, one cannot get protection from wealth nor education. The only factor that can give protection from the destructive effects of anger and hatred is the practice of tolerance and patience.

Calmness

The highest stage of love is calmness. No more behavior driven by emotions, passions or desires. When you achieve true calmness, I believe you love the whole world, all human beings, living creatures and everything around and also inside yourself. Such calmness provides control over your body and mind. The whole your being gets into balance. It is blissful.
It is very difficult to reach calmness, but it is possible.

Positive or Negative

It is not good to be too positive, it is even worse to be too negative. I guess we should consider the situation as it is and simply observe what is going on and how it is evolving without expectations and future positive or negative views. Anyways the things will move their own way.
Without giving situations positive or negative view, we simply experience them and have the opportunity to see things more objectively. That is favorable for our growth.

Religion

The religion is one; all prophets teach the same; but they can only present the principle in a form; so they take it out of the old form and put it before us in a new one.

Good and Bad

No action, situation, circumstance of the outer world is good or bad; and at the same time I can see all are good and bad. You decide and give these adjectives to everything in our life. Before making a statement you always face the choice – whether I choose this is good or this is bad for me. Your approach decides then whether your life will be good or bad for you.

Principle

Principle is bound to be clothed in matter, though we know that later we shall lose sight of the real in the covering. Every great teacher understands this, and that is why a continual succession of prophets has to come to show us the principle and give it a new covering suited to the times.

Devil and Angel

In each of us is there is a devil and an angel at once. Our role is to controle those two. Too much sweetness leads to diabetes, too much darkness leads to hell... Devil has worse consequences so you would do better keep sweet :-)

Intentions

When our intentions toward others are good, we find that any feelings of anxiety or insecurity we may have are greatly reduced. We experience a liberation from our habitual preoccupation with self and paradoxically, this gives rise to strong feelings of confidence.

Possession

Never say "mine." Whenever we say a thing is "mine," misery will immediately come. Do not even say "my child" in your mind. Possess the child, but do not say "mine." If you do, then will come misery.

Never say "mine." Whenever we say a thing is "mine," misery will immediately come. ... Do not say "my house," do not say, "my body." The whole difficulty is there. The body is neither yours, nor mine, nor anybody's. These bodies come and go by the laws of nature, but we are free, standing as witness. This body is not more free than a picture or a wall. Why should we be attached so much to a body? If somebody paints a picture, he does it and passes on. Do not project that tentacle of selfishness, "I must possess it." As soon as that is projected, misery will begin.

Sincere Motivation

If you develop a pure and sincere motivation, if you are motivated by a wish to help on the basis of kindness, compassion, and respect, then you can carry on any kind of work, in any field, and function more effectively.

True Work

Be perfectly resigned, perfectly unconcerned; then alone can you do any true work. No eyes can see the real forces; we can only see the results. Put out self, forget it; just let God work, it is His business.

Two Worlds

Our life occurs in the two dimensions - the inner and the outer world. The outer world is all what is happening around you, the inner world is all what is happening withing you. Both worlds are equal, but many people do not consider them as equal or they might not even know about the existence of the inner world. Those people do not know who they are.
Explore both worlds to learn about yourself, find out who you are. Do have your eyes open to what we usually do not pay attention, meditate to read in your mind, be consciouss... then you will see the world and your life from the whole prospective.

Life of Purpose

Life the life of purpose. Find what you like to do in your life and try the best to make it your profession. That way you will be happy, using your full potential, fully contributing to society, making others feel happy, too.

Unity

The world is rich with its diversity. It may seem each country is so different, each culture keeping so different values, eaach nation having such different characteristics...
However, love, honesty, respect, compasion, these are all valued the same everywhere in the world. Thus, be loving, honest, respectful, compassionate, and the world will be one.

Namaste

The gesture of namaste is a simple act made by bringing together both palms of the hands before the heart, and lightly bowing the head. In the simplest of terms it is accepted as a humble greeting straight from the heart and reciprocated accordingly - HUMBLE yourself before others, respect will follow.

Life and Soul

The life is your most precious property you should handle very cautiously. Use your body-tool to walk thru your life at long distance and dificult paths that will make your strong, use your mind-actor to educate yourself to conquer your ego and to reach the pure consciousness and happiness, let your body and mind be led by soul.
Body and mind makes your life moving into action, soul makes you become an observer of your life, of this action. It is beautiful to watch the movie of your life thru the soul.

Purpose of life

The purpose of our life needs to be positive. We weren’t born with the purpose of causing trouble, harming others. For our life to be of value, I think we must develop basic good human qualities – warmth, kindness, compassion. Then our life becomes meaningful and more peaceful – happier.

Love

Love is like a rose. It is beautiful, fragrant, delicate and also it has thorns and if it is not nourished properly, it fades. If you forcely and selfishly pick it for yourself it fades too.
You approach the rose of love carefully. Leaves are fragile. Handle it in a right way, unless you get jab by the thorn.
To know how to cultivate love is an art all of us learn during the way of life. Some of us will understand, some will never learn, but everybody hopes to master it. Why is it so difficult?

Idols

The society needs idols - famous people who somehow influence the society and its opinion.
I think we should focus on idols among ordinary people around us. Each person is great in a certain way. And each person should know he is able to have his own opinion.

Self-education

To live life on your own requires high responsibility. When being child, there are parents. When being teen, there is school, when being adult there is you yourself. In order to live life of purpose you need to educate your mind, body and soul every day.
Take up an exercise, eat simply but with wide variety, read spiritual literature or any other inspiration resources, train your mind thru meditation. Spend each date few minutes only with yourself to think about you. Those are my suggestions for self-education and reaching a beautiful enriching life.

Hard Times

When hard times of your closest come, do stand next to them. Share the negative energy with them. That way you get the chance to evolve your compassion and also you get the chance to learn from the situation. Share difficult moments = share learning = become more experienced and enriched = become better person for yourself and others.

Lifecycle

Each day has its lifecycle. We are born with the morning. Our life evolves with the day, we get into lots of beauties, difficulties, learning and wasted time. We may fail, we may win. We may be happy, we may be sad. Consider that every day is useless without a big smile. Smile is a precious positive energy you give yourself and others around. Do not miss one opportunity to smile and to make each day purposeful this way. When going to bed you may feel happiness of spending your little lifecycle in a good way.

Issues

Understand that the issues in your life are beauties which move your stereotype living to little extremes and give each day some kind of special flavor. What enjoyment and nourishment would bring to eat plain food? So taste them like different spices, each day another one and enjoy them.

Love

If you love God, then you can love everyone. If you don't love God, you can't love anyone.

Kindness

Alongside our natural ability to empathize with others, we also have a need for others’
kindness, which runs like a thread throughout our whole life. It is most apparent when we are young and when we are old, but we have only to fall ill to be reminded how important it is to be loved and cared about, even in our prime years.

Stress

The life puts is sometimes into a very stressful situation. You may feel your mind is out of the centre and you are stressed and down. Your body gets the stress too. All is connected. Try to keep deep slow breath, stop your thinking, calm down invation of your thoughts. All what is happening outside yourself does not really impact your happy soul. So concentrate yourself on that peaceful happiness. That is essential and the stress will be forgotten.

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Dreams

Don’t worry if some dreams won’t come true. It is sometimes better to keep certain dreams just as dreams. On the other hand, investing all energy into your dreams to become true makes your life rich and fulfilling. So I would suggest, keep balance. Make a plan, work on your dreams to live them and if some of them can’t work out, live them in your dreams. You can be sure if something fails, there appears another even better opportunity.

Bad Days

Each of us has sometimes a Bad day. You feel like everything is going against you, nothing works properly, anything annoys you. Try not to feel down. Take it all as some kind of unexpected excitement. All issues are challenges which once overcome are moving you forward. Bad days make you learn a lot.

Goals

In order to achieve something great, think big but act small. First set little goals as steps to gradually climb the mountain of your great goal. You can't jump to the mountain peak in few steps, you can't climb the mountain easily. However, the wonderful view of achieving the peak is so rewarding...

We are all the same

As human beings, we are all the same, there is no need to build some kind of artificial barrier between us. With this attitude, there is nothing to hide, and no need to say things in a way that is not straightforward. So this gives me a kind of space in my mind, with the result that I do not have to be suspicious of others all the time. And this really gives me inner satisfaction, and inner peace.

Successful Life

This body is today or tomorrow finished. We should not be very much bothered by the body. Trees also live for thousands of years but that does not mean a successful life. A successful life is one of God's consciousness.

Saturday, May 29, 2010

Giving

Giving means getting twice. First you get the opportunity to make somebody happy, second, you get the opportunity to make yourself happy. Try to give at least a little every day. It gives purpose to everyday living.

Unexpected Encounters

Life has better fantasy than your brain. With an open mind, ready for exposure to the new and unexpected, you experience wonderful encounters at circumstances you would never imagine. Be ready and approach these opportunities...

Analysing

Analysing problems = living problems. You'd better focus on living your life = accepting problems as part of your life. Problems are tasks to be fixed and forgiven, though don't spend too much time with them.

Love and Relationship

Love is like spring, it makes the flower of your life turn into blossom. Passion is like summer, it lets you enjoy the beauties of love but exhausts at the same time. Relationship is like fall. A lot of various moments come into place like beautifully colored leaves flying around, but expect also rains of tears. The conditions during the time of relationship will show whether you enter longlasting spring or you end up in winter – being by yourself. You may feel empty, like a tree without leaves, sad like a meadow with old lying grass. However, at the toughest times the peaceful snow comes and covers all in the white hope. You find the beauty of this stage and you know you are ready for another spring.

Happiness

Happiness depends on your inner state of mind. It means when you experience big issues in your life, those are just conditions of your current living and have nothing to do with your happiness. Do not let them affect your inner joy.

Difficulties

Welcome the difficulties in your life. What is not difficult, is not enriching. We grow thanks to overcoming obstacles. More our life might seem hard, more it is actually beautiful. Enjoy the beauty of life to the fullest and don't give up!

Life Fulfilment

You are the owner of your life. It is a great responsibility. You decide if your life will be a happy one or a sad one, a rich one or a plain one. Stop for a while in the fast paced rollercoaster of everyday stereotype. Think about your life, what makes you feel frustrated, what makes you feel happy. Avoid the frustration, grow the happiness. All depends only on you.

Right Moments

Every day is like a new beginning and ending of one life. You never know what will happen at the next moment. It is good to set all immediately. What if you lose the opportunity to say thank you, to smile back, to say I am sorry or to say I forgive. Don’t wait for the right moments. Only the present moment is the right one because it is right here right now.

Life

Life is like a dream. It flies so fast. Enjoy every moment of it as eternal, give people a lot and you get even more. Don't be angry too long, don't create problems as there are no problems except in your mind, forgive and be generous. There is no time for wrong or useless actions.

Smile and Kindness

There are great differences between different people, families, cultures, countries, continents... People look very different, behave and think in a different way. However, the simple smile and kindness do make every person feel happy without any difference. So let's smile and be kind to make the world become a happy place.

Positiveness

No matter what is going on today, this day is a good day and it will bring great things. Maybe not at this moment but in the future certainly…

Love

To be in love means nothing. To love means everything.

Open Mind

We tend to say that people are intelligent, stupid, nice or bad... I believe each person has his uniqueness in the world. Some kind of specialty. Some kind of purpose. Maybe the person is too hard to approach, sometimes it takes a lot of time to find a good point but certainly there is at least one good point about each personality. Give chance to every person you meet to find this uniqueness, experience it and learn from it. That's how you make yourself grow. Learn from difficult people, enjoy people at your wave length.

The Best Friend

Who is the best friend of yours? The closest people are certainly family and friends but… who can help you in the most difficult moments? Is there anybody always around waiting behind your back to intervene?... Don’t expect or wait the help of others. The best help you can get is what you provide you yourself. Enjoy the company of yourself, love yourself. Grow the friendship within yourself. Unhappy are the people who don’t know how to enjoy their own company.

Presence and Relativity

Enjoy the present moment to the fullest. Nothing lasts forever. Great moments need their maximum attention to enjoy the pleasure, bad moments need their maximum attention to educate yourself. The relativity of world gives us one certainty - bad and good moments constantly appear and vanish, both strengthen us and make us grow. What a beautiful harmony...

True Love

When you meet your true love, it is like a new piece of puzzle is coming into its place and it fits very well. This piece is followed by many other and they create the puzzle of your life. Even those wrong loves are part of it but as they don’t fit right, sooner or later they will fall of the picture and the empty place is waiting for the right piece. Wait patiently. The right time brings the right piece.

Difficulties

There can appear many difficulties in your life. These are just creations of outer circumstances. You have the privilege of choice - how to react - to get accustomed to new conditions or to be defeated. Don't let yourself to be defeated, that is very easy way of life. Life is beautiful for its complexity.

Options

You are constantly exposed to many options. Enjoy the possibility of choice because it is the privilege. Remember, whatever option you choose, it is the best option for you at that particular moment. Don't waste time by thinking what if you did rather this or that and don't regret anything. That is the art of living.

Pure Love

You are a harbor of my life. Even if I take long and distant journeys full of excitement, adventure, frustration and risk of unknown, wandering around the world of different cultures, attitudes, thoughts, beauties and dangers... I always keep in mind how extraordinary you are, how happy and blessed I am to know you and I always return to you hence you are always with me.

Time Consciousness

Learn from the past, live the present, plan the future but be ready for unexpected.

Relationship

Relationship is like unexpectedly found diamond in hands of a person who can see the same diamond in hands of yours. The diamond is now raw and it is upto both of you how you will process it and utilize it.

Complexity

The body is your tool, the mind is your identity, the soul is you and the whole world within. All three are essential and all three need to be nurtured every day.

Decisions

When you wake up, you make a decision - either you are happy or you are sad. That is how you decide about whether your day will be the reason to smile or the reason to feel sad.

Khaled Hosseini - Milles Soleils Flamboyants

Mariam a seulement 15.

Amit - Six Points to Think About

1)
I am not mind, nor intellect, nor ego, nor the reflections of inner self. I am not the five senses. I am beyond that. I am not the ether, nor the earth, nor the fire, nor the wind (i.e. the five elements). I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, Shiva, love and pure consciousness.
2)
Neither can I be termed as energy (Praana), nor five types of breath (Vaayu), nor the seven material essences (dhaatu), nor the five coverings (panca-kosha). Neither am I the five instruments of elimination, procreation, motion, grasping, or speaking. I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, Shiva, love and pure consciousness.
3)
I have no hatred or dislike, nor affiliation or liking, nor greed, nor delusion, nor pride or haughtiness, nor feelings of envy or jealousy. I have no duty (dharma), nor any money, nor any desire (kama), nor even liberation (refer: moksha). I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, Shiva, love and pure consciousness.
4)
I have neither virtue (punya), nor vice (paapa). I do not commit sins or good deeds, nor have happiness or sorrow, pain or pleasure. I do not need mantras, holy places, scriptures, rituals or sacrifices (yajna). I am none of the triad of the observer or one who experiences, the process of observing or experiencing, or any object being observed or experienced. I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, Shiva, love and pure consciousness.
5)
I do not have fear of death, as I do not have death. I have no separation from my true self, no doubt about my existence, nor have I discrimination on the basis of birth. I have no father or mother, nor did I have a birth. I am not the relative, nor the friend, nor the guru, nor the disciple. I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, Shiva, love and pure consciousness.
6)
I am all pervasive. I am without any attributes, and without any form. I have neither attachment to the world, nor to liberation. I have no wishes for anything because I am everything, everywhere, every time, always in equilibrium. I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, Shiva, love and pure consciousness.

Robin S. Sharma - 64 WAYS TO MAKE 2010 YOUR BEST YEAR YET

1. Remember that leadership isn't about your position. It's about your influence.
2. Get fit like a pro athlete.
3. Lift people up versus tearing people down.
4. Protect your good name. An impeccable reputation takes a lifetime to build. And 60 seconds to lose.
5. Surround yourself with positive, ethical people who are committed to excellence.
6. Remember that even a 1% daily innovation rate amounts to at least a 100% rate of innovation in 100 days.
7. Believe in your dreams (even when others laugh at them).
8. Measure your success, not by your net worth but by your self worth (and how happy you feel).
9. Take an intelligent risk every 24 hours. No try-No Win.
10. Read "Buffett: The Making of an American Capitalist".
11. Watch "Man on Wire".
12. Regardless of your title at work, be a team builder.
13. Remember that business is all about relationships and human connections.
14. Say "please" more.
15. Say "thank you" more.

17. Read your Big 5 every morning while the rest of the world is asleep.
18. Read "As You Think". At least twice this year.
19. Be willing to fail. It's the price of greatness.
20. Focus less on making money and more on creating value.
21. Spend less, save more.
22. Leave everything you touch better than you found it.
23. Be the most positive person in every room you're in.
24. Run your own race.
25. Stay true to your deepest values and best ideals.
26. Write a handwritten thank you note to a customer/friend/loved one every day.

33. Give more than you receive (another of the truths of happiness).
34. Have your 1/3/5/10/25 years goals recorded on paper and review them weekly.
35. Be patient. Slow and steady wins the race. The only reason businesses that went from zero to a billion in a year or two get featured in magazines is because 99% of businesses require a lot more time to win.
36. Underpromise and then overdeliver.
37. See part of your job as "a developer of people" (whether you work in the boardroom or the mailroom).
38. Wear your heart on your sleeve. When people see you're real, they'll fall in love with you.

47. Write your eulogy and then live your life backwards.

50. See everything that happens to you as an opportunity to grow (and therefore, as a precious gift).
51. Be obsessed with learning and self-development.
