Compassion

A compassionate attitude opens our inner door, and as a result it is much easier to communicate with others. If there is too much self-centered attitude, then fear, doubt and suspicion come and as a result our inner door closes. Then it is very difficult to communicate with others.

  1. Very true, its like ignoring the bad past, focusing on the positive present and building up a good future.

Only fear of what bad could happen will make us hesitate to open up to the good in others. While in truth the others are also feeling fear about the unknown in us.

Soon both are suspicious of each other and the doors closes. If one of them tries to make a positive move its looked at with suspision and then they get discouraged too. But if they understand what the other person is going thru maybe they will be able to be persistent and slowly build up the trust with their sincerity.

Open Communication is the key :)

  2. Compassion requires self compassion. I think that is what you mean by opening doors inside. When we open ourselves to knowing ourselves fully, and owning responsibility for our own experience, we can be open to being compassionate with others. At least, that's part of what we teach at the Compassion Movement. Check our nonprofit out: http://compassionmovement.org

  3. Melody: I think you were too focused on marketing your own shop, that you failed to understand that the Dalai Lama was talking about an Compassionate Attitude, rather than compassion in terms of action towards self and others. Which I belive follows with the attitude of Compassion and then it results in better communication.
